UK-based photographer Allie Crewe creates deeply emotive portraits that reveal the tender beauty, strength, and inner worlds of her subjects. To her, photography is a poetic force—blending documentary and constructed approaches to weave together stories with a touch of magic.
Holding a Master of Fine Arts in Photography, Allie is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society. A five-time finalist and winner of the Portrait of Britain and Portrait of Humanity awards by the British Journal of Photography, she regularly undertakes commissions for organisations including Arts Council England, the NHS, and The Science Gallery in London.
Working collaboratively, she invites participants to shape their own representation, striving to create visual stories that feel authentic and empowering. Often tackling emotive subjects such as violence against women and girls, her immersive projects are driven by the belief that art can provoke new thinking and inspire positive change.
Exhibited across the UK, including at Ffotogallery Wales and Photo London, her work has been featured in The Guardian, The Observer, The Telegraph Magazine, Vogue, and BBC News. Her prints are held in private collections, available for purchase, and she welcomes commissions and further editorial work.
'Sincere and poignant work.' Magnum Photo Awards.
'These images have a lot of heart and empathy; they offer detail and a real sense of actual relationships. I feel like these images are...an account of love and are timeless in that sense. They do not judge; in fact, they celebrate in a gentle and accommodating way.' LensCulture
